For those commuting down Broadway Ave. going to Central Catholic or going to work at Third Federal’s headquarters, you may not realize the two-mile stretch between Harvard and East 55th was once Cleveland’s first Automobile Row. For decades this stretch was home to nearly every major American nameplate: Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Ford, Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, Pontiac,
DeSoto, Nash, Mercury and Buick. Drive it today andmost of that history is gone or unrecognizable, and once it’s gone from memory, too, it’s gone for good. So let’s not let that happen.
Broadway saw plenty of ordinary trips over the years, but for many families, two stood out from the rest: the trip to the bank for a home loan, and the trip to the dealer for a car.
